daily life

water may be stirred
by changing winds, but always
returns to stillness

Old school

shik, shik, shik, shik, shik -
dainty green heads fall in rows,
evening calm remains

Wednesday geisha

in my floating world
paint and powder, twist and pin
to face the new day

Literary September

favorite people
live between book covers and
dance in memory
A literary week - a friend is at work on his next book, and one of my favorite literary characters started his own FB page. And some obliging person even sends in-character notes in response to posts. Literary characters seem to help me through the times when I can't meet the people I'd love to have around. The fact that most are ridiculously good-looking doesn't hurt.

Haiku du jour

tiny cold kisses
tempt me down the snowy road
white and pure and clean

For those who hate winter, my theory is that they don't spend enough time seeking its beauty. I like the calmness of it (even with hidden ice patches).
