Apples

the scent of apples
sings a song of cool days,
colors, and grey mist.

Heat's end

summer ends in gray
sheets of rain, the day ends in
a quiet spirit

warm, wrapped,and serene,
paradise is five minutes
before my alarm

Reading Addiction

chores wait patiently -
the reader travels the road
the story lays down

sweet and sharp

friends can be sweet as
honey,  or sharp as bee stings -
honey is preferred.

wake-up call

little plush paws nudge -
from the bed's cocoon I rise -
so the day begins

daily life

water may be stirred
by changing winds, but always
returns to stillness

Old school

shik, shik, shik, shik, shik -
dainty green heads fall in rows,
evening calm remains

in my floating world
paint and powder, twist and pin
to face the new day

Literary September

favorite people
live between book covers and
dance in memory                                                                                                                                                                                    
A literary week - a friend is at work on his next book, and one of my favorite literary characters started his own FB page. And some obliging person even sends in-character notes in response to posts. Literary characters seem to help me through the times when I can't meet the people I'd love to have around. The fact that most are ridiculously good-looking doesn't hurt.
